Background<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Agilent Technologies is a global leader in laboratory supplies, serving critical industries such as food safety, environmental and forensic science, pharmaceuticals, diagnostics, chemicals and energy, and academic research. Their customers rely on durable labeling solutions that hold up under the toughest conditions while protecting data integrity.<\/span><\/p>\n

Challenge<\/b><\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Agilent needed robust solvent-resistant slide labels<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0for their laboratory slide labeling kits, sold worldwide. The labels had to survive prolonged exposure and full submersion in harsh solvents like xylene, IMS, and IDA<\/strong> without:<\/p>\n

–<\/strong> Smudging or fading of the print
\n–<\/strong> Peeling or falling off glass slides
\n–<\/strong>\u00a0Staining during histology and tissue staining processes<\/p>\n

Previously, Agilent’s slide labels required an extra overlamination process to get solvent resistance. This increased production costs and slowed down order fulfillment. A faster, more dependable labeling solution was needed.<\/p>\n

Solution<\/b><\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

\"Xylene<\/p>\n

CILS worked closely with Agilent Technologies to develop a custom solvent-resistant laboratory label<\/strong> that would remove the need for overlamination while meeting all solvent durability requirements.<\/p>\n

Our label specialists provided test samples designed to withstand 15 hours of xylene submersion.<\/strong> After extensive validation and feedback from Agilent, CILS manufactured a brand-new thermal transfer printable slide label<\/strong> with the following features:<\/p>\n

– <\/strong>Ultra-solvent resistance when printed with a CILS RRD ribbon
\n–<\/strong> Clear, durable print that does not discolor during histopathology staining
\n –<\/strong> Adhesive engineered to prevent lifting or falling off, even after prolonged solvent exposure<\/p>\n

Results<\/b><\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Once validated, the new xylene-resistant slide labels<\/strong> were integrated into Agilent\u2019s laboratory slide labeling kits. This solution delivered measurable benefits:<\/p>\n

– Time savings<\/strong> \u2013 eliminating the overlamination step
\n– Cost reduction<\/strong> \u2013 lowering production expenses per kit
\n– Improved reliability<\/strong> \u2013 ensuring labels remain intact and legible in the harshest laboratory environments<\/p>\n
