CILS 'cover up' labels
The ideal label for ‘double-blind’ clinical trials during COVID-19 drug discovery
Managing large sets of sample data with CILS computer printable 'cover-up' or 'block-out' labels is easy. They can keep patient data confidential and help to maintain the credibility of COVID-19 clinical trials or any other clinical study.
The drive to increase testing across the UK for those on the front-line tackling COVID-19 is being ramped up to meet the overwhelming demand, with the government announcing the availability of hundreds of thousands of tests for key workers and their families.
Research by universities and laboratories are also being ramped up with both private and public institutions, e.g. the UK Research and Innovation Medical Research Council, funding research, and clinical trials around the country.
Laboratories and research institutions are working tirelessly on clinical trials to evaluate the safety and efficacy of anti-viral drugs.
Protecting patient information during clinical trials with ‘cover-up’ labels
During clinical trials, patient information needs to remain confidential, not only to protect the identity of the patient but to also maintain the integrity of the trial being conducted between the groups of patients who receive the drugs versus those who are given placebos.
We work with a number of laboratories who are currently conducting clinical trials for COVID-19 and we’ve seen an increasing demand for 96 well plate and vial labels that ‘block’ or cover up the patient's name and details already on the swab tube so no-one knows the patient’s identity and details within the testing facility.
Our recommended ‘cover-up’ label
The ideal solution is a set of two ‘cover-up’ labels printed in duplicate, one for the tube and one for the lab report.
We recommend CILS-8700GBO labels which have an opaque ‘block-out’ adhesive that prohibits data from underneath the label being visible and is used for ‘cover-up’ applications, secondary labelling, sample re-identification for clinical trials on plastic, glassware, bottles and flasks, slides, tubes, etc.
CILS ‘cover-up’ labels have an excellent printable surface for the best print quality from thermal transfer or laser printers, with good durability against mild abrasion, smudging, handling, humidity, and moisture. The labels can withstand temperatures ranging from -30°C to +80°C and can be printed as single labels or in sets.
